The Fire Danger Index in the RM of Headingley
is currently LOW (Level 1)
When conditions are very dry and there is a high risk of wild fires, the RM will speak with our Fire Chief and upon their recommendation will call for a burning ban until conditions change.
When a burning ban is implemented, the specific prohibitions depend on the level of the tiered fire restriction in effect:
Level 1 (Green): Fires are allowed in approved receptacles. Outdoor fires and fireworks are allowed.
Level 2 (Yellow): Fires are ONLY allowed in approved receptacles. NO other outdoor fires and NO fireworks of any type are allowed.
Level 3 (Red): NO fires and NO fireworks of any type are allowed.
The Province of Manitoba wildfire web page features a map specifically for Municipalities that have current burning restrictions.
Outdoor fires in the RM of Headingley are regulated by By-Law No. 5-2022. This by-law includes all fires, including those contained within fire pits and approved receptacles, all outdoor fires (such as crop residue burning, land clearing, and grass burning), and fireworks of any type.
